Foothill Technology High School BioScience Academy |
This program is a privilege for all students who participate. It is unique, it is rigorous and the expectations of those who participate are very high. The following expectations must be met by students in the Academy:
- Maintain grades of C or higher in every course that meets the a-g requirements. The goal of the Academy is that every student who completes it also is eligible for admittance into a four year university.
The a-g courses are those high school courses which must be completed with a C or higher for every semester in order to apply directly to the University of California system - therefore it is used as a guideline for every college admittance (there will be variance among individual schools, however).

2. Maintain excellent behavior both in class and around campus. Academy students must be mature enough to be sent to hospitals and labs for Shadowing and Internships. If they cannot behave well on campus, how can they be trusted when among adults they do not know? Misbehavior will be dealt with on an individual basis and can be a basis for removal from the Academy.
3. Participation, Effort, Attitude - it is expected that Academy students are in this program because they desire to learn and to achieve their goals. All students are expected to be an active participant in this program.
4. If a student receives a D or F in an a-g course, they may remain in the Academy only if they can retake that course and receive a C or higher - and still complete their graduation, a-g and BioScience coursework. The course can be retaken during the academic year, at the College if possible, or during summer school/independent study if possible.
Please note that the number of courses available for summer school are severely limited due to budget restraints!!
See the Academic Policy for greater detail.
